Ingredients
- 1 lb italian sausage (typically when making for family, she doubles the recipe and uses 1 lb "sweet" and 1 lb "hot" italian sausage)
- 1 small onion (~ 1/2 to 3/4 cup chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic
- 15-16 oz tomato sauce
- 12 oz tomato paste
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp oregano
- 1.5 tsp basil
- 1 tsp marjoram
- 1-2 bay leaves
- optionally some rosemary
- 1 cup water
Procedure
- Brown meat with onions, adding garlic for a minute or so at the end
- Add remaining ingredients and simmer for about an hour
- Adjust consistency by adding water as needed
